Excellent product with amazing ice cream results!
Bought a new ice cream bowl to replace my broken one, and it's superb. I've made three batches of amazing ice creams to date: one recipe was from Nigella's Forever Summer book (classic vanilla) which was so good I had people arguing over the last scoop. And I then bought the Kitchen Aid ice cream book and made the strawberry ice cream (I also added cherries). Again, an outstanding result!
One other note, I've had my Kitchen Aid stand mixer for 17 years, and it has given consistently excellent service. When I bought it all those years ago, the ice cream bowl came free, but I never used it! When I took it out of its wrapping it had cracked - the result of several house moves, no doubt. Kitchen Aid has been an excellent investment for my kitchen, and having tried the ice cream bowl, I am now going to look at building my collection of attachments!
Homemade Ice-Cream Success
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent for making homemade ice-cream! I got it to make sugar free ice-cream for my type 2 diabetic husband. After an initial hiccup (see tip below) it works perfectly. I have made no sugar vanilla and berry swirl flavours, also chocolate and oreo flavour for my daughter's 12th birthday party. I had all her friends coming back to the kitchen asking for more and saying I was a master chef (though I think they are too kind).
TIP: At first try the ice-cream mixture wasn't hardening at all...a quick google revealed that the freezer temp needs to be -18 degrees for the bowl to be cold enough to be effective, and ours was running around -15 degrees. Turned freezer temp down and re-froze the bowl to try again the next day (removing the mixture first and keeping it refrigerated)...and hey presto! Excellent results the next day after a few minutes of churning.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been debating buying the ice cream bowl attachment for a while, but always held off due to both the price and questions in my head about whether I would use it (or if it would be just gathering dust on the shelf). I finally took the plunge during a recent KitchenAid sales promotion, and I am so pleased I did. I am loving my new ‘toy’ and I (and family/guests) are also enjoying the delicious dairy free ice cream that I have been making. This gets a big tick from me.
